To start an LLC in Florida, you must meet several eligibility requirements. First, you need at least one member, who can be an individual or a business entity. Florida does not impose a minimum age requirement for LLC members or managers. The LLC must have a unique name that complies with Florida’s naming rules, including using “Limited Liability Company” or abbreviations like “LLC” or “L.L.C.” The name must not be confusingly similar to an existing business name in the state.

Additionally, your LLC must designate a registered agent who will handle legal and official documents. This agent must have a physical address in Florida and be available during business hours. The LLC also needs to file Articles of Organization with the Florida Division of Corporations and pay the necessary filing fee.

While no specific residency requirement exists for LLC members or managers, you’ll need a physical address for the Florida LLC setup. Lastly, after registration, your LLC will need an Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS, especially if you plan to hire employees or open a business bank account. Meeting these requirements ensures your LLC complies with state regulations and is eligible for registration in Florida.
